CHICOPEE, MA, Jan. 22, 2008 - Elms College freshman guard Justine Tokas (Enfield, CT) matched her collegiate career-high with 15 points, but Hartwick College sophomore guard Shamia Dean (Rensselaer, NY) poured in a game-high 20 points as the Hawks had five players reach double figures en route to a 87-41 win over the Blazers in Tuesday night's non-conference women's basketball game at the Maguire Center.

With the win, Hartwick snapped a three-game losing skid and improved to 3-11 overall. Elms College lost its third straight and fell to 5-9.

Sophomore guard Heather Pruchansky (Naples, FL) and freshman forward Sarah Waltersdorf (Clifton Park, NY) dropped in 15 points apiece, freshman forward Brooke Anderson (Hopkinton, MA) registered the game's only double-double with 11 points and 13 rebounds, and junior guard Kara Foro (Schenectady, NY) added 10 points to all reach double figures for the Hawks in the victory.

Pruchansky, who finished with all 15 of her points on 5 of 8 shooting from 3-point range, knocked down a pair of trifectas in the game's opening 10 minutes to help Hartwick race out to a 31-11 lead.

Hartwick connected on 6 of 13 shots from beyond the arc to build a commanding 46-17 at intermission.

For the game, the Hawks outscored the Blazers 38-14 in the paint, 35-13 off turnovers and 53-15 off the bench. Hartwick also held a commanding 56-25 rebounding advantage, including 21-7 on the offensive glass.

Senior point guard Michelle Fernandes (Danbury, CT) finished with 12 points on 4 of 10 shooting from 3-point range for the Blazers in the loss.

Elms College returns to North Atlantic Conference (NAC) play on Friday, January 25 when it travels to the University of Maine-Farmington. Tip-off is 7:30 p.m.
