DANBURY, CT, Jan. 6, 2008 - Elms College sophomore guard Taeler Connor (Ayer, MA) netted a team-high 11 points, but Western Connecticut State University pulled out to a 24-point halftime lead and had four players reach double figures to post a 92-40 win over the Blazers in Sunday afternoon's non-conference women's basketball game at Feldman Arena.

Western Connecticut extended its win streak to four straight and improved to 7-2 overall. Elms College fell to 4-5.

The host Colonials knocked down five 3-pointers en route to a 17-4 lead in the game's opening 6:12.

Western Connecticut junior forward Stacey Roberts (Windham, CT) netted 11 of her game-high 13 points in the first half, including 3 of 4 shooting from 3-point range.

Western Connecticut shot 58.3-percent (7 of 12) from beyond the arc and converted 12 Elms College turnovers into 11 points in the first half to build a 47-23 lead at intermission.

Freshman guard Justine Tokas (Enfield, MA) finished with eight points in just 19 minutes for the Blazers in the loss.

Elms College returns to North Atlantic Conference (NAC) play when it hosts Johnson State on Friday, January 11. Game time is set for 8:00 p.m.
