WOMEN'S BASKETBALL NIPPED BY JOHNSON STATE, 53-47

JOHNSON, VT, Feb. 16, 2008 - Elms College limited Johnson State to just five points on 1-of-33 shooting in the first half, but ultimately could not hold on as the Badgers claimed the victory 53-47 in Saturday afternoon's hard fought North Atlantic Conference women's basketball game at Carter Gymnasium.

The victory improves Johnson State to a mark of 10-13, 6-7 while Elms College suffers its third straight loss and now stands at 7-15, 4-8 NAC.

Sophomore forward Amanda Brogna (Oxford, MA) recorded her second straight double-double as she scored 14 points and tallied 19 rebounds in the losing effort.

After trailing 16-5 at the half the Badgers ignited the offense by shooting 5-of-8 from three point range en route to a 48 second-half points.

Johnson State junior guard Casey Rusin (Wilmington, VT) netted four three-pointers and recorded a game-high 16 points.

Elms College returns to conference play when the Blazers host Bay Path on Tuesday, February 19. Game time is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
