WOMEN'S BASKETBALL HELD OFF BY BECKER, 49-43

LEICESTER, MA, Feb. 9, 2008 - Elms College sophomore forward Amanda Brogna (Oxford, MA) netted a team-high 11 points, but Becker College jumped out to an eight-point halftime lead then held on for a 49-43 win over the Blazers in Saturday's North Atlantic Conference (NAC) women's basketball game at Leicester.

The Hawks defeated the Blazers for the second time this season and improved to 12-9 overall, 6-4 NAC. Elms College fell to 7-13, 4-6 NAC.

Sophomore guard Courtney Fisk (Westfield, MA) netted a game high 15 points and six rebounds for Becker, which outscored Elms College 27-3 from 3-point range.

Junior forward Paige Schneider (Windsor, CT) and sophomore guard Ally Wanat (West Springfield, MA) tossed in nine points apiece for the Blazers, who trailed 25-17 at intermission.

Elms College returns to conference play when it plays at Lesley University on Tuesday, February 12. Game time is 6:30 p.m.
