CHICOPEE, MA, Nov. 18, 2006 - Western Connecticut State University sophomore forward Stacey Roberts (Windham, CT) netted a game-high 19 points and the Colonials used a big second half run to pull away to a 79-60 win over host Elms College in the 2006 Blazers Tip-Off Tournament women's basketball championship game

With the win, Western Connecticut won its second game in as many days to move to 2-0. Elms College fell to 1-1 overall.

Roberts was named Tournament Most Valuable Player (MVP) for the Colonials, who used a 30-12 run in the first 11 minutes of the second half to pull away from a slim 30-26 lead at intermission.

Western Connecticut sophomore guard Jennifer Kancler (Columbia, CT) had 13 points, including a pair of clutch 3-pointers and a layup in a span of 3:04 midway through the second half to spark the Colonials big second half run.

Junior guard Ally Greenwood (East Hartford, CT), who also earned All-Tournament Team honors, added 16 points and a game-high seven assists for the Colonials.

Three Elms College players reached double figures in the loss, led by sophomore guard Jenn Payton's (Stratford, CT) team-high 15-point effort.

Freshman forward Amanda Brogna (Oxford, MA) netted 12 points and freshman guard Ally Wanat (West Springfield, MA) reached double figures for the second straight game as she finished with 11 points. Both earned All-Tournament Team honors for the Blazers.
