NASHUA, NH, March 28, 2009 - Elms College sophomore pitcher Destiny Meeker (Bantam, CT) delivered a clutch two-run double in the seventh and also threw a complete-game to help the Blazers earn a split of Saturday's New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) softball doubleheader at Eagles Field.

The Blazers (3-8, 1-1 NECC) dropped game one 3-2 in eight innings, but rallied with three runs in the seventh to earn a 5-2 win in the nightcap.

Meeker's two-run double in the top of the seventh highlighted the three-run frame that helped the Blazers break away from a 2-2 tie.

Meeker also helped her own cause on the mound, as she allowed no earned runs on 10 hits, while striking out four and issuing just one walk.

In the opener, Amanda Varrichio's (Middletown, CT) two-out single in the bottom of the eighth inning scored Ally May (Greenville, NH) from third to give the Eagles a come-from-behind victory.

The Eagles (3-9-1, 1-2-1 NECC), who moved to 3-1 in extra inning games this season, rebounded after falling behind 2-0.

Elms College senior shortstop Kerrie Bowden (Chicopee, MA) notched an RBI single in the first, and freshman third baseman Kelly Callahan (Monson, MA) scored on an Eagle error after Ally Graffum (Ipswich, MA) singled in the top of the fifth.

Elms College returns to non-conference play when it hosts Smith College on Monday, March 30 at 4:30 p.m.
