Softball Falls To Wooster, WPI At Cusic Classic

SOFTBALL FALLS TO WOOSTER, WPI
AT GENE CUSIC CLASSIC 

FORT MYERS, FL, March 8, 2009 - The Elms College softball team fell 6-1 to The College of Wooster and 10-3 to WPI in the Gene Cusic Classic on Sunday at Fort Myers, Florida.

Against Wooster in the first game of the day, the Blazers were held hitless until junior catcher Tiffany Williams (Berlin, CT) delivered a leadoff single through the left side, but the Blazers were retired in order from there to end the inning.

In the seventh, freshman first baseman Alicia Campbell (Stockbridge, MA) smacked a one-out double to left field and scored on junior left fielder Kim Lastowski's (Turners Falls, MA) RBI double that broke up the shutout bid.

The Blazers later fell to WPI to remain winless at 0-4 through two days at the Cusic Classic.

Elms College returns to action on Tuesday, March 10 versus Eastern Nazarene (1:00 p.m.) and North Park (3:00 p.m.)
