CHICOPEE, MA.  April 16, 2008 - Elms College sophomore catcher Tiffany Williams (Berlin, CT) went 2 for 7 in two games, but the Blazers were defeated by Lesley 6-0 in game one, and 7-2 in game two in Wednesday afternoon's North Atlantic Conference (NAC) softball doubleheader held at Dooley Field.

With the sweep, Lesley won for the 12th time in its last 14 games and improved to a record of 14-8, 8-2 NAC.  Elms College saw its four-game winning streak snapped and drops to 11-10, 4-4 NAC.

In game one Lesley junior pitcher Alicia Burnett (Gulf Breeze, FL) surrendered just two hits over seven innings to post the shutout victory.  Burnett struck out nine batters and walked none.

The Lynx jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead when junior centerfielder Gianna Spaziante (Hawthorne, NY) smashed a two-run home-run in the second inning. 

Elms College game one senior pitcher Tammie Tremblay (Springfield, MA) yielded eleven hits and six earned runs in seven innings of work in the losing effort.

In game two, Burnett pitched another seven strong innings, and allowed just nine hits and two earned runs to lead the Lynx to the sweep.  Burnett's second victory of the afternoon improved her record to 8-3 on the season.

Elms College freshman pitcher Andrea Ramsdell (Gardner, MA) pitched seven innings, allowing twelve hits and five earned runs in game two.

In the second game, Elms College sophomore third baseman Allyson Graffum (Ipswich, MA) went 3 for 3 with a run scored and sophomore left fielder Kim Lastowksi (Turners Falls, MA) had a two-RBI double to lead the Blazers offensively.

Lesley sophomore catcher Jodi Fralick (Woburn, MA) went 3 for 4 with two RBI and a run scored in the game two victory.

Elms College returns to conference play Friday, April 18 against Thomas.  The doubleheader is scheduled to begin at 2:00 p.m.
