Softball Falls To Wheaton, 1-0

SOFTBALL FALLS TO WHEATON, 1-0

FORT MYERS, FL. March 8, 2008 - Elms College freshman pitcher Andrea Ramsdell (Gardner, MA) pitched seven strong innings, allowing just one run scored on three hits, but the Blazers were held scoreless and were ultimately defeated by Wheaton 1-0 in Saturday afternoon's non-conference softball game held at the Gene Cusic Classic in Fort Myers, Florida.

Ramsdell recorded one strikeout and allowed just two walks in the losing effort.

Junior second baseman Kerry Bowden (Chicopee, MA), senior first baseman Christina Giampetruzzi (Westfield, MA), and sophomore third baseman Ally Graffum (Ipswich, MA) all went 2 for 3.  Bowden, Giampetruzzi, and Graffum accounted for six of the nine Blazer hits.

Elms College returns to non-conference action Sunday, March 9 when the Blazers face Skidmore.  The game, which is part of the Gene Cusic Classic, will be held at 9:00 a.m. in Fort Myers, Florida.
