Softball Swept At Thomas In NAC Doubleheader

WATERVILLE, ME, April 18, 2008 - Elms College senior pitcher Tammie Tremblay (Springfield, MA) threw a pair of solid complete-game efforts, but Thomas College posted 3-2 and 4-3 victories over the Blazers to complete a sweep of Friday's North Atlantic Conference (NAC) softball doubleheader at Waterville, Maine.

Elms College saw its losing streak extended to four games and fell to 11-12 overall, 4-6 NAC. Thomas (12-7) won its fourth straight game and moved into sole possession of first place in the NAC at 10-0.

In game one, the Terriers plated the game's first three runs in the fourth and led 3-0 heading into the seventh.

Senior shortstop Karyn Palomba (Enfield, CT) delivered a RBI double and junior second baseman Kerrie Bowden (Chicopee, MA) had a RBI single, but the Blazers could not rally to plate the game-tying run.

In game two, Elms College led 1-0 in the second following a RBI double by Tremblay, but Thomas scored four runs in the sixth to grab a 4-2 lead.

Bowden belted a RBI double as part of a two-run seventh, but again the Blazers were unable to plate the game-tying run.

Tremblay finished with a combined three strikeouts in the two games on Friday.

The Blazers play their third conference doubleheader in four days when they host Maine Maritime Academy on Saturday, April 19. Game one is slated for 1:00 p.m.
