FORT MYERS, FL., Mar. 21, 2007 - Elms College junior pitcher Tammie Tremblay (Springfield, MA) struckout seven in a complete game effort to lead the Blazers to a 7-5 victory over Worcester State in Wednesday's non-conference softball game at the Gene Cusic Classic.

With the win, Elms College snaps a four-game losing streak to improve to 1-4 overall and conclude Gene Cusic Classic play. Worcester State falls to 1-4 overall.

The Lancers jumped to an early 3-0 lead through three innings before the Blazers exploded for seven runs over the next three innings.

Junior first baseman Christina Giampetruzzi (Westfield, MA) finished 2 for 4 with two-RBI, and the Blazers used a four-run fourth inning to pull to a 4-3 lead. From there, the Blazers never looked back.

Worcester State sophomore pitcher Jessalyn Hyland (Swansea, MA) surrendered seven runs on 7 hits through 6 innings and struckout seven in the losing effort for the Lancers.

The Blazers return to non-conference action Wednesday, March 29, when they host Westfield State. Game time is 4:00 p.m.
