CHICOPEE, MA, April 29, 2007 - Elms College junior pitcher Tammie Tremblay (Springfield, MA) threw a complete-game effort in game one and the Blazers capitalized on four-base errors in the bottom of the seventh in each game to complete a non-conference doubleheader sweep with 3-2 and 5-4 victories over the University of Maine-Farmington on Sunday afternoon at Dooley Field.

With the sweep, Elms College concludes its regular season 14-11, while Maine-Farmington concludes its regular season 13-7.

In game one, Maine-Farmington scored one run in the fourth and fifth innings to post a 2-0 lead before the Blazers rallied to tie the game at 2-2 in the bottom of the fifth on a two-run single by Tremblay down the right field line.

The game remained tied at 2-2 in the bottom of the seventh when senior shortstop Jen LeDoux (Easthampton, MA) reached on an infield error and came around with the winning run after the throw rolled all the way to the right field fence in foul territory.

In game two, trailing 4-1 in the bottom of the sixth inning, the Blazers scored three runs on a pair of fielder's choice RBIs by LeDoux and sophomore center fielder Danielle LaPlante (Randolph, VT) and a sacrifice fly by freshman pitcher Alyssa Skewes (Ellington, CT) to even the score at 4-4.

From there, the Blazers again capitalized on a Maine-Farmington fielding miscue in the bottom of the seventh to complete the sweep.

Sophomore left fielder Kerrie Bowden (Chicopee, MA) reached second on an outfield error, then came around to score the winning run on an infield throwing error on the same play.

Skewes pitched 3.0 solid innings in relief, striking out two and surrendering just one hit en route to her seventh win of the season.

Junior first baseman Christina Giampetruzzi (Westfield, MA) was 2 for 3 at the plate with a double and RBI in the nightcap win for the Blazers.

Maine-Farmington sophomore center fielder Lauren Overlock (Belfast, ME) was 2 for 3 with a pair of RBI for the Beavers in the second game.

The Blazers return to action Tuesday, May 1 when they host Thomas College in a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Tournament quarterfinal game. Game time is yet to be determined.
