SOFTBALL SWEEPS PAST BAYPATH IN NAC DOUBLEHEADER

LONGMEADOW, MA, April 26, 2007 - Elms College junior pitcher Tammie Tremblay (Springfield, MA) struck out seven in game one to help lift the Blazers to a sweep in Thursday's North Atlantic Conference (NAC) softball doubleheader with Bay Path College at Ryan Field.

Elms College posted a 5-2 victory in game one, and completed the sweep with a 13-4 win in the six-inning nightcap.

With the sweep, Elms College has won four straight to improve to 11-10 overall, 9-3 NAC. Bay Path falls to 11-12 overall, 4-8 NAC.

In game one, Elms College took a 2-2 tie into the top of the seventh inning before exploding for three runs.

Freshman catcher Kim Lastowski (Turners Falls, MA) was 3 for 4 at the plate with a pair of doubles in the victory.

Tremblay gave up just two runs on seven hits in the complete-game effort for the Blazers.

In game two, the Blazers posted a 10-4 lead through three innings and scored three more runs in the final three innings to pull away to victory.

Freshman pitcher Alyssa Skewes (Ellington, CT) struck out eight in the complete-game effort for the Blazers.

Senior shortstop Jen LeDoux (Easthampton, MA) and freshman designated player Tiffany Williams (Berlin, CT) each registered a pair of hits in the game.

Bay Path freshman third baseman Lauren Verab (Naugatuck, CT) tallied three RBI in the game two loss for the Wildcats.

The Blazers return to non-conference action Saturday, April 28 when they host Thomas College in a doubleheader. Game on is set for 2:00 p.m.
