
Blazers Drop Home Match to Visiting Pride
Chicopee, MA- The Elms College men's volleyball team returned to the court on Wednesday evening against local-foe Springfield College and dropped a hard fought match by the scores of 18-25, 21-25, 22-25.
Elms, which last competed on March 13, entered the match with a 2-0 record and now sits at 2-1 after the loss.
Jeremy Torres (Juncos, P.R.) had 18 of the Blazers 29 kills as Carlos Mercado (Barranquitas, P.R.) was credited with 23 assists.
The visitors stormed out to a 14-5 lead in the second to force the hosts into a timeout. Elms would battle their way back to get as close as 23-20, only to have the Pride take the set 25-21.
Springfield jumped out to 17-9 advantage, but Elms would continue to hang tough behind the play of Torres and knot things up at 21-all. However, the Pride took back the momentum as they put away two consecutive kills and set up match point at 24-22, eventually taking the set and match.
The Blazers are back in action on Friday 3/26 when they host rival Endicott College at 7pm. No spectators are allowed at the match, you can watch the match via livestream which can be found at ecblazers.com.
