MEN'S VOLLEYBALL OUTLASTED AT ENDICOTT IN SEASON-OPENER, 3-2

BEVERLY, MA, Jan. 22, 2008 - Elms College sophomore setter Ivan Andujar (Carolina, Puerto Rico) handed out 64 assists, but host Endicott College staved off elimination in game four and eventually went on to post a 3-2 (30-21, 28-30, 24-30, 31-29, 15-11) win over the Blazers in Tuesday night's non-conference men's volleyball match at the MacDonald Gymnasium.

Andujar's 64-assist effort fell just seven helpers shy of breaking his own five-game, school-record for the Blazers (0-1). Endicott improved to 1-1 with the victory.

Elms College received 26 kills from freshman outside hitter Alberto Bravo (Toa Baja, Puerto Rico) and freshman outside hitter Carlos DeLeon-Gomez (Carolina, Puerto Rico) added 19 kills in his collegiate debut.

Sophomore middle blocker A.J. Witkofsky (Scotia, NY) set program records for kills (35) and points in a match (40.5) for Endicott, while also registering nine total blocks (two solo, seven assist). Sophomore setter Ben Foster (Penfield, NY) dished out 59 assists and junior outside hitter Dan Coleman (Millis, MA) secured 18 digs.

Elms College opens its North East Collegiate Volleyball Association (NECVA) New England Division schedule on Thursday, January 24 at MIT. Match time is set for 7:00 p.m.
