Bravo, Andujar Named To NECVA All-New England Division

  BRAVO, ANDUJAR EARN NECVA ALL-NEW ENGLAND DIVISION HONORS

CHICOPEE, MA.  March 31, 2008 - The North East Collegiate Volleyball Association (NECVA) has named the All-Division men's volleyball players and both Elms College freshman opposite Alberto Bravo (Toa Baja, Puerto Rico) and sophomore setter Ivan Andujar (Carolina, Puerto Rico) have been honored.

Bravo was named to the NECVA All-New England Division First-Team after amassing a program single-season record 503 kills in 105 games (4.79 Kills/game).  Bravo was also recognized as the NECVA New England Division Rookie of the Year.

Andujar was named to the NECVA All-New England Division Second-Team for a season in which he recorded 65 aces and tallied 1371 assists in 106 games.  Andujar's 1371 assists is a program single-season record and Andujar is also the Elms College all-time assist leader in just two seasons with the Blazers.

Bravo ranked seventh nationally among all Division III men's volleyball players in kills per game average (4.77), according to the NCAA Division III Men's Volleyball national statistics report released on March 25.  Bravo also ranked seventh nationally in points per game (5.47).

Andujar's average of 12.93 assists per game ranked the setter first nationally among all Division III men's volleyball players as of March 25.  Adujar also ranked fifth nationally in average aces per game (.640) according to the March 25 report.

Bravo and Andujar's stellar seasons have helped the Blazers earn the program's first-ever berth into the NECVA tournament.  No. 14 Elms College (19-9) will challenge No. 3 Nazareth College (27-6) Friday, April 4 in the first round.  The game will be held at the Bradley Sports and Recreation Center in Mahwah, New Jersey and match time is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
