Men's Volleyball Falls Short Against Wentworth, 3-2

MEN'S VOLLEYBALL FALLS SHORT AGAINST WENTWORTH, 3-2

CHICOPEE, MA, Tuesday, February 6, 2007 - Elms College junior outside hitter Byron Bledsoe (Lake Forest, CA) registered a match-high 21 kills, but Wentworth sophomore outside hitter Justin Kalinkewicz (Scotia, NY) and junior middle blocker Dan Tessier (Pawtucket, RI) combined for 36 kills to lead the Leopards to a 3-2 (23-30, 13-30, 30-21, 30-26, 18-16) comeback win in Tuesday night's North East Collegiate Volleyball (NECVA) New England men's volleyball match at the Maguire Center.

With the loss, Elms College falls to 2-6 overall, 2-3 NECVA New England, while Wentworth notched its first win of the season to improve to 1-7 overall, 1-3 NECVA New England.

Elms College jumped out to a quick two-game lead before Wentworth stifled the Blazers' attack.

Wentworth senior setter Chris Zacchilli (Milford, MA) registered 39 assists (11 in game five) and seven kills and was a key part of the Leopards three game comeback.

Kalinkewicz and Tessier combined for 11 kills in the decisive game five for the Leopards.

Wentworth junior outside hitter Jonathan Swick (Pembroke, MA) added 11 kills in the win for the Leopards.

Freshman setter Ivan Andujar (Carolina, Puerto Rico) notched 47 assists and added five kills, and sophomore opposite hitter Phil Joyce (Ashland, NH) recorded a collegiate career-high 10 kills in the loss for the Blazers.

The Blazers return to action Saturday, February 10, when they host Lesley in a non-conference match. Match time is 6:00 p.m.
