Men's Volleyball Falls To Newbury, Division I Sacred Heart
MEN'S VOLLEYBALL SWEPT BY NEWBURY, DIVISION I SACRED HEART
BROOKLINE, MA, Jan. 27, 2007 - Elms College junior outside hitter Byron Bledsoe (Lake Forest, CA) knocked down a combined 22 kills in two matches and freshman setter Ivan Andujar (Carolina, Puerto Rico) handed out 58 assists, but the Blazers were swept in both men's volleyball matches at Hellenic College on Saturday afternoon.
Elms College (1-4, 1-1 NECVA New England) fell 3-0 (30-20, 30-23, 30-23) to Newbury College and 3-0 (30-19, 32-30, 30-24) to Division I Sacred Heart University.
In the loss against Newbury, Bledsoe had a team-high 10 kills and also added a team-high 13 digs, while Andujar registered 26 of his assists.
Senior middle blocker Brian Cunniff (Pittsfield, MA) added nine kills, five digs and three aces for the Blazers in the program's first-ever match against a Division I opponent.
Elms College returns to NECVA New England Division play when it hosts Emmanuel College on Tuesday, January 30. Match time is 7:00 p.m.
