BLEDSOE NAMED NECVA PLAYER OF THE WEEK

CHICOPEE, MA, March 14, 2007 - Elms College men's volleyball senior outside hitter Byron Bledsoe (Lake Forest, CA) became the first player in program-history named North East Collegiate Volleyball Association (NECVA) Player of the Week as announced by the NECVA on Wednesday night.

Bledsoe registered a combined 63 kills, 29 digs and eight total blocks to help lead the Blazers to NECVA New England Division victories over Mount Ida and Johnson & Wales.

In the Blazers' 3-1 win over Mount Ida on March 7, Bledsoe blasted a four-game, school-record 34 kills, hit .441 and added 17 digs.

He then followed with 29 kills, 12 digs and six total blocks in the Blazers' 3-2 win over Johnson & Wales on March 9.

Bledsoe, who broke Pat Boyajian's '06 single-season record of 277 kills back on March 3 against Newbury, has registered a team-leading 350 kills this season. He began last week ranked 11th nationally in Division III in kills per game.

In just two seasons at Elms College, Bledsoe will graduate as the program's second all-time leader in both kills and assists.
