CHICOPEE, MA, Jan. 17, 2009 - Elms College freshman Zach LeBarron (Bennington, VT) won a pair of events, including a school and pool-record victory in the 100-meter freestyle, but visiting UMass-Dartmouth overcame  an 11-point deficit in the final two events and rallied for a thrilling 132-130 win over the Blazers in Saturday's men's swimming meet at Partyka Natatorium.

Elms College (3-2) had its three-meet win streak snapped, while the visiting Corsairs evened their record at 3-3.

LeBarron was victorious in the 50-meter freestyle (25.87) before setting a new Partyka Natatorium and school-record en route to victory in the 100-meter freestyle (56.72).

The Blazers held a slim 116-110 advantage heading into the meet's final two events.

Freshman Nick Provost (Three Rivers, MA) won the 200-meter individual medley and freshmen teammates Tyler Filiault (North Adams, MA) and Garrett Brune (Lakeville, MA) finished fourth and fifth in the same event to extend Elms College's lead to 128-117 heading into the final event - the 200-meter medley relay.

From there, however, the Corsairs took first and second in that final relay to rally for the victory. Sophomores David Adams (Tynsgboro, MA), Steve Szarek (Middletown, CT), freshman Chris Currier Haymes (Brockton, MA) and sophomore Andrew Haughey (West Springfield, MA) clocked a winning time of 1:47.54 to help spark UMass-Dartmouth's victory.

The Blazers had three other school-records broken on the day, as freshman Adam Tonnesen (Norwich, CT) set a new mark with his winning time of 1:07.31 in the 100-meter backstroke. Sophomore Joe King (Springfield, MA) established a new school-record in his 200-meter backstroke victory (2:31.99) and Brune clocked a school-mark of in the 100-meter breaststroke (1:17.71).

UMass-Dartmouth sophomore CJ Johnson (Acushnet, MA) posted a pair of victories, as he clocked winning times in both the 100-meter individual medley (1:07.76) and 100-meter butterfly (1:04.80).

Elms College returns to action when it hosts Norwich and Gordon next Saturday, January 24. Meet time is 11:00 a.m.
