Men's Swimming 12th After Day Two Of NEISDA Championship

BRISTOL, RI, Feb. 23, 2008 - Elms College freshman Nick Whitman (Florence, MA) placed 15th in the preliminary heat of the 50-yard butterfly (26.70) and the Blazers remained in 12th place following the second day of the 2008 New England Men's Swimming & Diving Association (NEISDA) Championship at Roger Williams University.

Keene State leads the championship with 431 points. Bentley (405), Norwich (224), Roger Williams (193), Bryant (182), UMass-Dartmouth (142), Saint Michael's (124), Bridgewater State (64), Salem State (53), Colby-Sawyer (40), Gordon (32), Elms College (20), University of New England (11) and Regis (5) rounded out the 14-team field.

Sophomores Mike Starke (Chicopee, MA) and Jason DiMauro (New Hartford, CT) both swam in the preliminary heat of the 100-yard breaststroke.  Starke clocked a time of 1:09.47 to capture 22nd place while DiMauro finished 25th with a time of 1:11.05.

Whitman, Starke, and DiMauro teamed with freshman Joe King (Springfield, MA) to earn a 10th place finish (1:53.75) in the preliminary heat of the 200-yard medley relay.

The NEISDA Championship continues on Sunday, February 24 at Roger Williams University.  Trials are scheduled to begin at 9:00 a.m.
