CHICOPEE, MA., Feb. 16, 2008 - Elms College freshman Nick Whitman (Florence, MA) placed second in the 100-yard freestyle as the men's swimming team competed at Saturday's Sprint Vassar Invitational in Poughkeepsie, N.Y.
Host Vassar College won the four-team invitational with a score of 264. SUNY Maritime placed second (171), Skidmore College was third (150) and Elms College placed fourth (47).
In addition to his performance in the 100-yard freestyle, Whitman placed fifth in the 50-yard butterfly (27.95) and sixth in the 200-yard freestyle (2:05.66).
Freshman Joe King (Springfield, MA) recorded a fourth place finish in the 100-yard backstroke (103.96).
Sophomore Mike Starke (Chicopee, MA) clocked a time of 1:04.73 in the 100-yard individual medley, finishing in fourth place.
Sophomore Jason DiMauro (New Hartford, CT) placed fourth in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:15.04)
Elms College returns to action when the men compete at the NEISDA Championship beginning on Friday, February 22.
