MEN'S SWIMMING FALLS TO UMASS-DARTMOUTH 118-87

CHICOPEE, MA, Jan.
16. 2006 - Elms College freshman Jason DiMauro
(New Hartford, CT)) won a pair of events, but
UMass-Dartmouth freshman Craig Scheel (East Lyme,
CT) and senior Tom Cakounes (Chelmsford,
MA) each won a pair of events to help the Corsairs pull
away to a 118-87 win in Tuesday night's men's swimming meet at
Partyka Natatorium.
With the win UMass-Dartmouth improves to 2-4 overall, while the Blazers fall to 0-4 overall.
Scheel's victories came in the 200-meter individual medley (2:32.34) and the 100-meter breaststroke (1:15.41).
Cakounes earned victories in the 50-meter breaststroke and 100-meter butterfly recording times of 33.34 and 1:07.92 respectively.
DiMauro finished first in the 100-meter backstroke (1:12.90) and the 400-meter freestyle recording a time of 4:42.41.
Freshman Mark Pirruccio (Brewster, MA) also registered a pair of wins in the 50-meter freestyle (26.72) and 100-meter individual medley (1:11.20).
The Blazers return to action Saturday, January 27 when they travel to Gordon College. Meet time is yet to be determined.
