MEN'S SOCCER STOPPED AT BECKER, 1-0

LEICESTER, MA, Oct. 10, 2007 - Elms College junior goalkeeper Nick Pellegrini (Ludlow, MA) stopped 10 shots, but Becker College junior defender Scott Medeiros (Assonet, MA) scored the game's only goal in the 36th minute to help the Hawks secure a 1-0 win over the Blazers in Wednesday's North Atlantic Conference (NAC) men's soccer game at Leicester.

With the win, Becker (10-4 overall, 4-1 NAC) won for the fourth time in its last five games and is now atop the current NAC standings. Elms College fell to 3-8-1 overall and 3-2 in the conference.

The lone goal of the game was scored at 35:12 when Medeiros rebounded a shot off the left post and drove it past Pellegrini.

Elms College returns to NAC play when it hosts Thomas College on Saturday, October 13. Game time is 3:00 p.m. at Leary Field. As part of Elms College's Family Day festivities, the men's soccer team will also host a tailgate cookout from 1:00-4:00 p.m.
