CHENARD NAMED MEN'S GOLF CO-HEAD COACH

CHICOPEE, MA, July 25, 2008 - Elms College Director of Athletics Louise McCleary announced the hiring of Steve Chenard '06 as co-head coach of the men's golf program.

Coach Chenard, a four-year member of Elms College's golf program from 2002-2006, will oversee all administrative responsibilities, including scheduling, recruiting, budgeting and communications, while also traveling and coaching at invitationals.

"To be able to hire a golf co-coach that can focus on the administrative aspect of the program will be a tremendous asset to our program.  As a graduate, Steve will only enhance our recruiting efforts," McCleary noted.

In 2005-06, Chenard qualified to compete in both the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Championship and Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III New England Qualifier.

As a senior in 2006, Coach Chenard was also named recipient of both the Leary and Tommy Hurst Awards during Elms College's year-end athletics banquet. Both awards honor student athletes who exemplify dedication, sportsmanship and love for athletics.

Coach Chenard, who is also an assistant coach with the women's basketball program, earned his bachelor's degree in History from Elms College in 2006.
