CHICOPEE, MA, April 24, 2009 - Franklin Pierce freshman Brian Fleckles (Sandwich, MA) carded a medalist-winning round of 3-over par 74 and the Ravens had three finishers among the top 10 to win the men's golf team championship of the Blazers Invitational on Friday afternoon at Chicopee Country Club.

Franklin Pierce had all five of its players shoot 86 or better to post a solid score of 320 to hold off Springfield College (325) and claim the seven-team invitational. Castleton (333), Westfield State (351), Anna Maria (358), Becker (365) and Elms College (373) rounded out the field.

Fleckles led the field with three birdies and added 10 pars, as he shot 36 in the front and 38 in the back. Freshman teammate B.J. Powers (Southbury, CT) tied for fifth with Becker junior Ben Malone (Westborough, MA) with rounds of 79 as two of six players in the 33-player field to break 80.

Springfield senior Mike LaJoie (Enfield, CT) earned runner-up honors, as he finished with a solid 6-over 77 (40-37) and led the field with 11 pars on the day.

Elms College sophomore Andrew Sullivan (West Springfield, MA) and Castleton freshman Mike Krahn (Ridgefield, CT) tied for third with rounds of 78 as the only other players to break 80.

Sullivan joined Fleckles with three birdies on the day, while Krahn recorded 10 pars as one of only three players to card 10 or more in his round.
