Daigneault Earns Medalist Honors At UMass-Dartmouth

SPRING SEASON-OPENING INVITATIONAL AT UMASS-DARTMOUTH
 

NORTH DARTMOUTH, MA, April 13, 2008 - Elms College senior Neil Daigneault (Ludlow, MA) earned medalist honors with a stellar round even-par round of 72 to highlight the Blazers 13th place finish at Sunday's Hampton Inn Collegiate Men's Golf Invitational hosted by UMass-Dartmouth at Allendale Country Club.

Daigneault, who needed just 22 putts in his round, drained a 45-foot birdie putt on the final hole to pull out a one-stroke victory in the 67-player field.

For the day, Daigneault finished with three birdies, three bogeys and 12 pars for scores of 36 on both the front and back nines.

The Blazers carded a team score of 369 in their spring season-opener on Sunday.

Host UMass-Dartmouth won the event with a score of 318. Nichols (320), Babson (321), Johnson & Wales (321) and Salem State (324) rounded out the top five teams.

Freshman Andrew Sullivan (West Springfield, MA) placed 58th individually with his round of 95.

Elms College returns to action on Thursday, April 17 at the WNEC Invitational. Tee times are set for 10:30 a.m.
