CHICOPEE, MA, Sept. 18, 2007 - Nichols College Pasquale Pio (Somers, CT) carded a round of 1-over par 72 and the Bison had four of the top six overall finishers en route to earning team championship honors at Tuesday's Blazer Invitational men's golf tournament at Chicopee Country Club.

Pio fired a 1-over 37 in the front nine and an even-par 35 in the back to pace the Bison, who edged Husson College by five strokes.

MCLA (338), Elms College (340), Suffolk University (355), Mitchell College (382), Becker College (384) and Newbury College (424) rounded out the eight-team field.

Elms College senior Neil Daigneault (Ludlow, MA) finished fourth in the 40-player field with a 4-over par 75. Daigneault recovered from a 41 in the front nine with a solid 1-under 34 in the back that included birdies on the par-4 10th and par-5 15th.

Juniors Chris Brock (Pomfret Center, CT) (73), Chris Healy (Charlton, MA) (78) and senior Nick Reinert (Cromwell, CT) (78) all broke 80 for Nichols over the 6,742-yard Chicopee Country Club layout.

Ben Estabrook finished second with a 1-over 73 to pace Husson, which had won three of its first four tournaments this fall, including the State of Maine Open last weekend.

MCLA recorded its best-ever finish at the Blazer Invitational despite having just one golfer place in the top 10. Adam Ciborowski shot an 8-over 79, including a 37 in the back nine for the Trailblazers.

Rob Luna shot a round of 80 to placed 10th for Mitchell, while freshman Jori Karstikko (Finland) (85) was Suffolk's highest finisher.

Elms College freshman Andrew Sullivan (West Springfield, MA) was solid in his collegiate debut, as he carded a round of 83 (42-41).

The Blazers return to action at the Williams Invitational on Saturday, September 22 and Sunday, September 23.
