CHICOPEE, MA, Oct. 2, 2007 - Elms College senior Neil Daigneault (Ludlow, MA) earned medalist honors with an even-par 71 and UMass-Dartmouth had two of the top three finishers to earn team championship honors at Tuesday's Blazer Invitational men's golf tournament at Chicopee Country Club.

Seniors Marc Francis (Acushnet, MA) and Tyler Kett (Brewster, MA) placed second and third, respectively, to pace the Corsairs, who posted a winning team score of 311 to narrowly edge Brandeis (312).

Rhode Island College (320), Worcester State (321) and Western New England (322) rounded out the top five. Elms College (338), Mitchell (360), Anna Maria (377), Daniel Webster (378) and Emerson (492) completed the 10-team field.

For UMass-Dartmouth, Francis carded an impressive round of 2-over par 73 (38-35), while Kett finished at 3-over (36-38).

Daigneault, this week's North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Player of the Week, posted five birdies, including four on the front nine en route to a 34 through the opening nine holes.

Sophomore Lee Bloom (West Hartford, CT) led Brandeis with a 5-over 76 to earn a tie for fourth place. Bloom's round was the lowest for the Judges this fall season. All four Brandeis scorers finished among the top 15 in the 49-player field.

Although it had just one finisher in the top 10, Rhode Island College had all four of its scorers place in the top 20 en route to a third place showing. Junior R.J. Tassoni (Warwick, RI) paced the Anchormen with a solid 5-over 76 (39-37) to tie for fourth individually.

Senior Zachary Camarra (Auburn, MA) and junior Nick Lombardi (North Grafton, MA) each carded rounds of 76 for Worcester State, while WNEC junior Steve Rourke (Nashua, NH) also tied for fourth with his round of 76 (39-37) that included birdies on the par-5 2nd, par-3 8th and par-5 15th.

Elms College returns to action on Saturday, October 6 and Sunday, October 7 when it plays host to the ECAC Division III New England Championship at Chicopee Country Club. A 12:30 p.m. shotgun start is set each day for the 14-team field.
