Men's Golf Earns 2nd Place Finish at NAC Championship

MEN'S GOLF EARNS 2ND PLACE FINISH AT NAC CHAMPIONSHIP  

BAR HARBOR, ME, Oct. 15, 2006 - Elms College junior Neil Daigneault (Ludlow, MA) and senior Jim Hurlbut (Roxbury, CT) each earned top five finishes to help lead the Blazers to a second place finish at the 2006 North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Men's Golf Championship at Kebo Valley Country Club.

Daigneault carded consecutive rounds of 8-over par 78 for a two-round total of 156 to place fourth individually and earn First-Team All-NAC honors for the second straight season.

Hurlbut also earned First Team honors for the first time in his collegiate career after following up his opening-round 79 with an 82 for a two-round total of 161 to place fifth individually.

Elms College registered a score of 653 to place behind three-time NAC champion Husson College (613). Maine Farmington placed third with a two-day score of 660, Castleton State College was fourth (667), Thomas College was fifth (691), Becker College was sixth (713), and host Maine Maritime Academy finished with at 733.

Freshman Ben Kwiatkowski (Chicopee, MA) was impressive in his first conference championship, as he earned Second Team All-NAC honors with a two-round total of 166 (80-86). Senior Matt Walsh (Springfield, MA) finished 18th in the field of 34 with a two-round score of 170 (86-84).

The NAC Championship concluded the 2006 fall season for Elms College.
