Men's Golf Finishes 11th at ECAC Division III Championship

MEN'S GOLF FINISHES 11TH AT ECAC DIVISION III CHAMPIONSHIP  

BELLINGHAM, MA, Oct. 8, 2006 - Elms College junior Neil Daigneault (Ludlow, MA) and senior Jim Hurlbut (Roxbury, CT) each tied for 31st individually to help lead the Blazers to an 11th place tie at the ECAC Division III Men's Golf Championship on Sunday at New England Country Club.

Elms College improved by 12 strokes in its second-round (334) of the two-day championship with a team score of 680 to tie Johnson & Wales University for 11th.

Salem State College won championship honors in the 18-team field with a score of 621. UMass-Dartmouth (622), Nichols College (624), Castleton State College (630) and Springfield College (325) rounded out the top five teams.

Daigneault recovered nicely after an opening-round 89 with a second-round 5-over par 76, while Hurlbut also improved from his opening-round 87 with a solid round of 78 in the second round.

Elms College concludes its fall 2006 season at the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Championship hosted by Maine Maritime Academy on the weekend of October 14-15.
