CHICOPEE, MA, Feb. 10, 2009- Elms College senior guard Aswad Thomas (Hartford, CT) earned a double-double netting a team-high 17 points and game-high 12 assists, as the 12th-ranked Blazers used a balanced offensive attack and key run midway through the second half to pull away to a 102-80 win over Becker College in Tuesday night's New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) men's basketball game at the Maguire Center.

The Blazers, ranked 12th nationally in the latest D3hoops.com Top 25 Poll, extended their win streak to nine straight to improve to 19-1 overall and remain atop the NECC standings at 9-0.

Sophomore forward Rajai Leggett (New Haven, CT) registered a game high 26 points and game-high 16 rebounds for Becker (14-7, 7-3 NECC), which lost for just the second time in nine games.

The Blazers led 47-38 at intermission but were unable to break free from the Hawks, who following a pair of free throws from senior guard Travis Suber (Springfield, MA), pulled to within 59-54 with 13:42 remaining.

Elms College then answered with a 12-2 run over the next 2:16 to extend its lead to 74-58. The run was triggered with a jumper from senior forward Malakie Berry (Enfield, CT) and culminated with a 3-pointer by senior forward Antoine Holder (Hartford, CT)

Berry shot 5 for 7 from the field and ended the game with 12 points in just 18 minutes, while Holder added 15 points and pulled in a team-high seven rebounds. 

Senior forward Ronald Thomas (Chicago, IL) dropped in 14 points and freshman guard Bryant Corcoran (Wolcott, CT) added 10 points to both reach double-figures for the Blazers.

Suber tailed 20 points and six steals for the Hawks, while freshman forward Terrance Favors (Boston, MA) finished with 14 points and nine rebounds in the losing effort. 

Elms College returns to NECC play on Thursday, February 12 when it travels to Daniel Webster College.  Game time is 8:00 p.m.
