CHESTNUT HILL, MA, Jan. 24, 2009 - Junior forward Javon Mathis (West Hartford, CT) netted a game-high 16 points and No. 16 Elms College had a total of 13 players score en route to an 89-51 win at Wheelock in Saturday's New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) game.

The Blazers (15-1 overall, 5-0 NECC), ranked 16th in the latest D3hoops.com Top 25 Poll, extended their win streak to five straight to continue their best start in program-history and remain atop the NECC standings.

Sophomore guard Dan Gonzalez (East Windsor, CT) finished 5 of 7 from the field for 12 points in just seven minutes, and junior guard Juan Galdon (Holyoke, MA) added 10 points in 22 minutes as the other two players to reach double figures for Elms College.

The Blazers converted 19 first half Wheelock turnovers into 22 points to roar out to a commanding 47-19 halftime lead.

In all, Elms College's defense forced 30 turnovers and held huge advantages in points off turnovers (35-9) and bench scoring (56-24).

The Blazers return to NECC play when they host Mitchell on Thursday, January 29. Tip-off at the Maguire Center is 7:00 p.m.
