No. 13 Men's Basketball Sails Past Mitchell

CHICOPEE, MA, Feb. 7, 2009 - Senior forward Antoine Holder (Hartford, CT) and junior guard Juan Galdon (Holyoke, MA) netted a game-high 16 points apiece, as No. 13 Elms College used a big second half run to eventually pull away to a 92-62 win over Mitchell College in Saturday's New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) men's basketball game at New London.

Elms College, ranked 13th nationally in the latest D3hoops.com Top 25 Poll, extended its win streak to eight straight to improve to 18-1 overall, 8-0 NECC.

Mitchell lost to the Blazers for the second time in nine days and fell to 8-11 overall, 4-6 NECC.

Holder also added 10 rebounds in just 15 minutes to record the Blazers' lone double-double.

Elms College shot just 38.5-percent in the first half and held a slim 40-35 lead before erupting for a 24-6 run midway through the second half to put the game away.

The Blazers, who forced the Mariners into 32 turnovers, had 14 of their 18 players score in the victory.

Senior forward Ronald Thomas (Chicago, IL) added 11 points, including a pair of 3-pointers as the only other Elms College player to score in double figures.

The Blazers will look to extend their win streak to nine straight when they host Becker College in a NECC game on Tuesday, February 10. Tip-off is 7:00 p.m.
