ELMS COLLEGE MEN'S BASKETBALL GARNERS ALL-NECC HONORS

CHICOPEE, MA, March 1, 2009 - The New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) recently announced its 2009 Men's Basketball All-Conference Team and Elms College had three players and head coach Ed Silva honored.

Senior guard Aswad Thomas (Hartford, CT) and junior guard Juan Galdon (Holyoke, MA) were both named First Team All-NECC as both appeared in all 27 games to help the Blazers earn the NECC's inaugural regular season and conference tournament titles this season.

Thomas, who ended the regular season as the nation's NCAA Division III leader in steals, was recently named NECC Tournament MVP as he led the conference in both steals and assists.

Galdon, meanwhile, averaged a team-leading 13.6 points through 27 games, and following the conference tournament, was just 36 points shy of surpassing Kyle Seyboth '05 (1,175) as the program's all-time leading scorer.
