CHICOPEE, MA, Feb. 1, 2008 - Elms College sophomore point guard Juan Galdon (Holyoke, MA) netted a team-high 17 points and the Blazers used an early second half run to pull away to a convincing 94-69 win over Maine Maritime Academy in Friday night's North Atlantic Conference (NAC) men's basketball game at the Maguire Center.

Elms College extended its win streak to three straight and improved to 12-6 overall, 5-2 NAC. Maine Maritime lost its second straight and fell to 8-9, 5-2 NAC.

The Blazers led 48-38 at intermission before erupting for a 12-2 run over the first 2:56 of the second half to pull away for good.

The Mariners hung tough in the opening 20 minutes despite committing 18 turnovers, as senior forward Neil Stewart (Rangeley, ME) dropped in 14 of his game-high 21 points in the first half.

For the game, Elms College held a 33-10 edge in points off turnovers and 49-21 advantage in bench scoring.

Junior forward Ronald Thomas (Chicago, IL) netted 10 points and junior guard Aswad Thomas (Hartford, CT) added 11 points and a game-high five assists for the Blazers, who had a total of 13 players score.

Sophomore center Chad Paddock (Dayton, OH) finished with 12 points as the only other Maine Maritime player to reach double figures.

Elms College returns to conference play when it hosts Husson College on Saturday, February 2. Tip-off at the Maguire Center is 4:00 p.m.
