Men's Basketball Outlasts Johnson State, 95-79

MEN'S BASKETBALL OUTLASTS JOHNSON STATE, 95-79

JOHNSON, VT, Feb. 16, 2008 - Elms College sophomore guard Juan Galdon (Holyoke, MA) netted a game-high 29 points including shooting 10-of-10 from the free throw line to lead the Blazers past Johnson State 95-79 in Saturday afternoon's North Atlantic Conference men's basketball game at Carter Gymnasium.

The victory marks the eighth straight for the Blazers who sit at 17-6 overall, 10-2 NAC. The loss drops Johnson State to 9-15, 4-8 NAC.

Elms College benefitted from strong play both senior forward Nate Hawes (New Hope, MN) and senior guard Randy Hite (Hartford, CT). Hawes scored 13 points and grabbed a game-high 17 rebounds while Hite contributed 14 points of his own.

Hite lead the way for the Elms College bench that outscored the opponent's reserves 34-9.

Johnson State junior forward John Foley (Valley Stream, N.Y) poured in a collegiate career high 27 points and added nine rebounds in the losing effort.

Johnson State trailed by just one (35-34) at halftime before Elms College ripped off 60 second half points to put away the Badgers.

Elms College returns to non-conference action when the Blazers host Newbury on Tuesday, February 19. Game time is scheduled for 8:00 p.m.
