Men's Basketball Rolls Past Lesley, 83-58

CAMBRIDGE, MA, Feb. 13, 2008 - Elms College sophomore guard Juan Galdon (Holyoke, MA) struck for a game-high 15 points and the Blazers used an early first half run to pull away to an 83-58 win over Lesley University in Wednesday night's North Atlantic Conference (NAC) men's basketball game at Cambridge.

Elms College posted its sixth straight win to improve to 15-6 overall and remain atop the NAC West Division standings at 8-2. Lesley fell to 6-15, 4-5 NAC East Division.

Junior forward Malakie Berry (Enfield, CT) scored 12 points, while senior guard Randy Hite (Hartford, CT) and senior forward Nate Hawes (New Hope, MN) added 10 points apiece for the Blazers, who broke the game open with a 15-4 run early in the first half and led 51-33 at intermission.

Freshman guard Jon Cruz (Haverhill, MA) scored a team-high 15 points in the loss and senior Mark Stevens (Las Vegas, NV) finished with 12 points as the only other player to reach double figures for the Lynx.   

Senior captain Joe Chatman (Boston, MA) added nine points to surpass the 1,000-point plateau for Lesley.

Elms College junior guard Aswad Thomas (Hartford, CT) found his teammates often as he had a game-high six assists. 

The Blazers limited the Lynx to just 37.5-percent shooting from the field and also forced 16 turnovers. Lesley was also plagued by poor free throw shooting, as it was just 8 for 20 from the line.

Elms College returns to conference play on Friday, February 15 at Castleton. Tip-off is 8:00 p.m.
