CHICOPEE, MA, Jan. 25, 2007 - Elms College senior guard Bill Beauregard (Ware, MA) dropped in a team-high 13 points and the Blazers used a big first half run to cruise to a 75-53 win over Worcester State College in Thursday night's non-conference men's basketball game at the Maguire Center.

Elms College won for the sixth time in its last seven games to improve to 10-6 overall. The Blazers only loss during that stretch was at No. 2 Amherst on January 16.

Worcester State lost its first-ever meeting with Elms College and fell to 7-11 overall.

The Blazers led 6-4 five minutes into the game before erupting for a 21-4 run over the next 6:47 that included a pair of 3-pointers by senior guard Justin Davis (Huntington, NY) to race out to a 27-8 lead.

The Lancers responded with an 11-4 run over the next two minutes, and following a pair of free throws by freshman guard Ty Bacon (West Brookfield, MA), Worcester State cut its deficit to 31-19 with 4:08 remaining in the half.

The Blazers then put the game out of reach with a 13-1 run over the final 4:08 of the first half, capped off by consecutive 3-pointers by sophomore guard Joe Esile (Milford, CT) to build a commanding 44-20 lead at intermission.

Elms College converted 31 Worcester State turnovers into 35 points en route to the victory.

Worcester State junior guard Will Spont (Bellingham, MA) led all scorers with 15 points and junior forward Winfred Rembert (New Haven, CT) registered the game's only double-double with 14 points and 15 rebounds for the Lancers in the loss.

Davis finished with 11 points in just 17 minutes as the only other Elms College player to reach double figures.

Elms College returns to North Atlantic Conference (NAC) play when it travels to Lasell College in a NAC West Division game on Tuesday, January 30. Tip-off is 8:00 p.m.
