CHICOPEE, MA, Feb. 10, 2007 - Elms College senior guard Justin Davis (Huntington, NY) netted a team-high 19 points and six Blazers reached double figures en route to a thrilling 115-107 victory over Lasell College in Saturday afternoon's North Atlantic Conference (NAC) men's basketball game at the Maguire Center.

Elms College wins its eighth straight game and 12th in the last 13 to improve to 16-6 overall, 11-1 NAC. Lasell College loses for just the third time in its last 11 games to fall to 13-9, 10-3 NAC. With the win, Elms College remains atop the NAC West Division standings.

Junior forward Nate Hawes (New Hope, MN) netted 10 of his of his 18 points in the first half.

The Blazers, who led 51-40 at intermission, used a quick 12-2 run in the first 4:24 of the second half to mount a 21 point lead at 63-42.

Following a pair of free-throws by Lasell sophomore forward Jose Guitan (Miami, FL) that brought the Lasers to within 11 at 85-74, Elms College sophomore guard Joe Esile (Milford, CT) connected on a pair of three-pointers and senior guard John Ancrum (Harlem, NY) added a lay-up to give the Blazers a 93-74 lead with seven minutes to play.

The Lasers battled back to get to within six points with 58 seconds remaining and the score 108-102, but a pair of free-throws by Ancrum, and junior guard Randy Hite (Hartford, CT) gave the Blazers a 10 point lead at 114-104 with 19 seconds to play.  

Ancrum finished with 14 points and seven assists, Esile finished with 12 points, and Hite contributed eight points off the bench for the Blazers in the win.

Lasell junior forward Jamie Crawford (Coral Springs, FL) scored a game-high 27 points and junior guard Dwayne Powell (Lauderdale Lakes, FL) contributed 21 points for the Lasers in the loss.

Guitan netted all 15 of his points in the second half for the Lasers, and freshman forward Jude Biton (Hyde Park, MA) added 14 points and sophomore guard Junior Sanival (Miami, FL) added 13 points to give the Lasers five players in double figures.

Sophomore forward Malakie Berry (Enfield, CT) added 16 points to round out the six players in double figures for the Blazers.

The Blazers return to action Tuesday, February 13 when they travel to Lesley University for a conference match. Tip-off is 6:30 p.m.
