WILLIMANTIC, CT, Nov. 18, 2006 - Junior forward Renato Lindmets (Springfield, MA) recorded a double-double with a game-high 19 points and 14 rebounds, and the Blazers pulled away from a halftime tie to cruise to a 92-74 win over host Eastern Connecticut State in the championship game of the 2006 Eastern Connecticut Tip-Off Tournament at Geissler Gymnasium.

Elms College earned the ninth-year program's first-ever Eastern Connecticut Tip-Off title for head coach Ed Silva, a 1997 alum and former player for Eastern Connecticut State.

Three other players reached double figures for the Blazers, who were tied with the host Warriors 41-41 at intermission.

Senior guard David Williams (Hartford, CT) dropped in 15 points, senior guard Justin Davis (Dix Hills, NY) recorded 14 points, including four 3-pointers, and senior point guard John Ancrum (Harlem, NY) added 14 points and a game-high eight assists in the victory.

Elms College plays in its home opener on Tuesday, November 21 when it hosts Westfield State College. Game time is set for 8:00 p.m. at the Maguire Center.
