Box score

CHICOPEE, MA, Sept. 4, 2008 - Elms College junior midfielder Kaitlyn Graham (Paxton, MA) and sophomore midfielder Denise Perks (Blackstone, MA) each scored a goal to help the Blazers rally for a hard-fought 2-1 win over Regis in Thursday night's non-conference field hockey game at Leary Field.

Regis (0-2) jumped out to a quick 1-0 just 8:15 into the game when sophomore forward Caitlyn Geagan (Watertown, MA) collected a rebound and blasted a shot past Elms College senior goalkeeper Katelyn Wasgatt (Worcester, MA).

Graham netted the equalizer in the 14th minute as she collected a rebound off a blast by senior forward Sarah Lapolice (West Springfield) and put a shot past Regis senior goalkeeper Kristen Tavares (Acushnet, MA).

With the game tied 1-1 in the 42nd minute, Perks split a pair of defenders and rocketed a shot past Tavares just inside the far post for what stood as the eventual game-winner.

Regis nearly tied the game in the final three seconds, but freshman forward Haleigh Daggett's (Bellingham, MA) shot sailed just wide of the near post as time expired.

Wasgatt finished with seven stops for the Blazers, who were outshot by the visiting Pride 11-9. Tavares registered four saves in the loss.

Elms College returns to non-conference play on Tuesday, September 9 at Westfield State. Game time is 7:00 p.m.
