LONGMEADOW, MA, Oct. 18, 2008 - Elms College junior midfielder Kaitlyn Graham (Paxton, MA) and sophomore forward Courtney Gilmore (Mansfield, MA) each scored their third goals of the season to help the Blazers post a 3-1 win at Bay Path in Saturday's New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) field hockey game at Ryan Field.

The Blazers won their second straight - both in conference - to improve to 5-10 overall, 4-3 NECC. The Wildcats, who are in their inaugural varsity season, remained winless at 0-7, 0-7 NECC.

Graham opened the scoring in the 14th minute with assists credited to Gilmore and sophomore forward Denise Perks (Blackstone, MA).

Jessica Priestly made history for the host Wildcats as she netted the program's first-ever goal just 6:58 later to knot the game at 1-all.

The game remained tied at 1-1 until Gilmore and senior forward Sarah Lapolice (West Springfield, MA) scored at the 54:54 and 58:41 marks, respectively, to seal the victory.

 

Elms College returns to non-conference play on Thursday, October 23 at Anna Maria. Game time is 3:30 p.m.
