  FIELD HOCKEY FALLS TO SIMMONS, 3-2

CHICOPEE, MA, Oct. 16, 2007 - Elms College freshman midfielder Denise Perks (Blackstone, MA) tallied her team leading fourth goal and second assist of the season, but Simmons senior midfielder Cammy Keiler (Minot, ME) scored twice to push the Sharks past the Blazers 3-2 in Tuesday afternoon's North Atlantic Conference (NAC) field hockey game at Leary Field.

Keiler opened the scoring in the 22nd minute of play when she collected a loose ball and was able to blast the ball through traffic past Elms College junior goalkeeper Katelyn Wasgatt (Worcester, MA).

Simmons scored again in the 42nd minute as sophomore midfielder Austyn Joaquin (Dartmouth, MA) tallied her fifth goal of the season to put the Sharks on top 2-0.

Elms College responded in the 43rd minute of play when Perks rifled a shot from 12 yards out to cut the Simmons lead to 2-1 at intermission.

Keiler netted her second goal of the game in the 54th minute when she collected a feed struck by sophomore defender Maggie Weeks (Melvin Village, NH).

The Blazers cut the deficit to 3-2 in the 66th minute when freshman midfielder Katherine MacPherson (North Sutton, NH) collected a pass from Perks and scored from within 10 yards.

Simmons' third straight win improved the Sharks' record to 6-9, 4-3 NAC.  The loss drops Elms College to a mark of 2-11, 1-5 NAC.

Elms College returns to conference play at Wheelock on Saturday, October 20.  Game time is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
