CHICOPEE, MA Oct. 3, 2006 - Elms College freshman midfielder Kaitlyn Graham (Paxton, MA) netted a penalty stroke 1:38 into the second half to help the Blazers pull away to a 3-1 victory in Tuesday's North Atlantic Conference field hockey game at Leary Field.

With the win, Elms College snaps a nine-game losing streak, improving to 1-9 overall, 1-4 in the NAC, while Wheelock College remains winless, falling to 0-9 overall and 0-3 in the NAC.

Elms College sophomore midfielder Ellen Silva (Palmer, MA) scored her second goal of the season 16:57 into the contest on a pass from sophomore forward Marie Wilson (Claremont, NH).

Wheelock junior forward Kayla Gillespie (Westport, MA) tied the game at 1-1 with her first goal of the season on a pass from sophomore forward Lauren Graves (Sandwich, MA) at the 28:44 mark.

Elms sophomore forward Sarah Lapolice (West Springfield, MA) put the Blazers back ahead with an unassisted goal in the final minute of the first half. The goal was Lapolice's first of the season.

Elms College returns to action Tuesday Oct. 10 as they travel to Becker in a North Atlantic Conference game set for 4:00 p.m.
