HOLYOKE, MA, April 14, 2009 - Williams College senior designated hitter Taylor Mikell (Williston, VT) went 3 for 4 with two runs scored, sophomore pitcher Wilson Barr (Saint Helena, CA) threw six solid innings and the visiting Ephs pounded out 17 hits en route to a 15-4 win over Elms College in Tuesday night's non-conference baseball game at MacKenzie Stadium.

Williams, which posted a 5-2 victory at Division I Fordham seven days ago, won for the 13th time in its last 15 games to improve to 13-7 overall. Elms College, meanwhile, fell to 10-12.

The Ephs plated a pair of first inning runs, then tacked on three more in the second that included a two-run double to deep left field by junior left fielder Al Mathews (North Hampton, NH).

The Blazers cut the deficit to 5-1 in the bottom of the fourth on a RBI double to right by freshman center fielder Donald Morse (Alfred, ME).

Williams, however, plated three more runs in the fifth and two in the sixth to put the game out of reach at 10-1.

Junior first baseman Justin Jacobs (Springhill, FL) belted a RBI double, sophomore left fielder Bob Reyome (Westfield, MA) delivered a RBI groundout and sophomore shortstop Brendan Cordeiro (Berkley, MA) smacked a RBI single in the Blazers' three-run, sixth.

Barr allowed four earned runs, scattered eight hits and struck out six to run his record to 2-0 on the season for the Ephs.

Freshmen Dan Grossman (Indianapolis, IN), Matt Berdoff (Greenwich, CT) and Harry Marino (Westfield, NJ) each pitched a scoreless inning over the final three frames for Williams in the winning effort.

Senior starter Joe Esile (Milford, CT) yielded four earned runs on seven hits over the first three innings to suffer his first loss of the year (0-1) for the Blazers, who committed three errors.

Junior Chad Brown (Pittsfield, MA) went 3 for 5 with three RBI for Williams.

Elms College returns to non-conference play at Fitchburg State on Thursday, April 16. Game time is 4:00 p.m.
