BASEBALL FALLS TO PENN STATE-ALTOONA, 8-3
IN SEASON-OPENER AT RUSSMATT CENTRAL FLORIDA INVITATIONAL

FORT MYER, FL, March 7, 2009 - Freshman third baseman Nicolino Iavicoli (Hampden, MA) went 2 for 5 with a pair of stolen bases, but Elms College fell 8-3 to Penn State-Altoona in its 2009 season opener at the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational.

Senior second baseman Mike Bedson (Moriches, NY) went 1 for 2 with a double and freshman shortstop Jonathon Ortiz (Carolina, Puerto Rico) went 1 for 3 in the loss.

Elms College (0-1) faces Wentworth in a doubleheader at the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational on Sunday, March 8. Game one is set for 9:00 a.m.
