BABSON PARK, FL, March 12, 2009 - Freshman shortstop Jonathan Ortiz (Carolina, Puerto Rico) went a combined 4 for 8 with eight RBI, including two homeruns, while pitchers Mike Bieber (Calverton, NY), Dan Ingraham (Granby, MA) and senior Joe Esile (Milford, CT) all had solid outings to help the Blazers sweep SUNY-Cobleskill 20-5 and 11-4 in a non-conference baseball doubleheader at the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational on Thursday afternoon.

The Blazers pounded out a combined 30 hits to post their second doubleheader sweep in as many days and improve to 4-5 overall. The Fighting Tigers fell to 2-5 with the two losses.

In game one, junior third baseman Brian Marrero (Kendall Park, NJ) went 2 for 3 with three runs scored and four RBI, sophomore designated hitter Hector Roche (San Cristobal, Dominican Republic) went 4 for 4 with five RBI, including a pair of doubles, and sophomore second baseman Brendan Cordeiro (Berkley, MA) went 3 for 3 with a pair of RBI and two runs scored to pace the Blazers' 19-hit attack.

Ingraham, meanwhile, recorded a school-record nine strikeouts and allowed just four earned runs on eight hits over 6.0 innings.

In game two, Bieber scattered five hits and two earned runs over 5.2 innings, as the Blazers plated five runs in the third inning and four more in the fifth to put the game out of reach.

Roche added three more hits in three at-bats to finish a perfect 7 for 7 with six RBI on the day, Ortiz added a pair of home runs to become just the second player in program-history to record a multi-homerun game and freshman designated hitter Reynaldo Rivera (San Juan, Puerto Rico) went 2 for 4 with a RBI and run scored.

Esile pitched a combined 2.1 innings of relief in the two games, as he allowed just one earned run on two hits with three strikeouts.
