HOLYOKE, MA.  April 21, 2008 - Elms College senior left fielder Joe Ferry (Palmer, MA) went 2 for 4 with three RBI and a run scored, including a game winning RBI single in the seventh inning to help lead the Blazers past Clark 10-8 in Monday afternoon's non-conference baseball game held at MacKenzie Stadium.

The victory moves Elms College to 10-14 on the season while Clark drops to 10-20.

With the score knotted at 8-8 in the seventh inning Elms College freshman Robert Reyome (Westfield, MA) stroked a single to left field and freshman shortstop Brendan Cordeiro (Berkley, MA) drew a walk.  Following Reyome, Ferry slapped a RBI single through the middle to score what proved to be the game-winning tally.

Elms College took an early 2-0 advantage in the second inning when junior third baseman Mike Andrews (Greenfield, MA) scored on a past ball and Reyome scorched an RBI double to left center.

Elms College scored twice more in the third inning to take a 4-1 advantage.  Freshman second baseman Albert Betances (Haverhill, MA) lined a RBI double down the left field line and junior outfielder Nick Mackowiak (Dudley, MA) recorded a RBI sacrifice groundout.

Clark responded in the fourth inning when sophomore designated hitter Phillip DiMarco (Bellingham, MA) led off the inning with a triple down the right field line.  Following DiMarco, sophomore first baseman Ronald Bathrick (North Haven, CT) recorded a RBI sacrifice fly to right field and freshman second baseman Scott Hollingsworth (Tilton, NH) scored on a passed ball to cut the Blazer lead to 4-3.

Elms College extended the lead to 6-3 in the fourth inning when Ferry ripped a two RBI triple down the right field line.

Clark would tally three runs over the next two innings to even the score at 6-6 entering the bottom half of the sixth inning.

In the sixth inning Andrews blasted a two-run double to deep left to put the Blazers ahead 8-6.

Clark proved resilient, evening the score once more at 8-8 in the seventh inning when senior left fielder Gunnar Hagstrom (Yarmouth, ME) knocked a two RBI single to left center.

Elms College sophomore pitcher Mike Bieber (Wading River, NY) struck out two batters and allowed three hits in 1.1 innings pitched to post the victory.

Elms College junior pitcher RJ Vassallie (Long Branch, NJ) recorded a save, tallying one strikeout in 1.0 innings pitched.

Elms College returns to conference play with a doubleheader Wednesday, April 23 at Becker.  Game one is scheduled to start at 6:30 p.m.
