Women's Soccer Falls At Eastern Connecticut

WILLIMANTIC, Conn. – After a scoreless first half, the Elms College women's soccer team couldn't keep pace with Eastern Connecticut, falling 3-0 on the road on Wednesday evening.

Blazer (1-1-1) goalkeeper Rebecca Molin (West Hartford, Conn.) came up with seven saves in the game but Eastern Connecticut fired 19 shots, including 10 shots on-goal compared to the Blazers' five shots and two on-goal.

Aly Clarke opened the scoring for the Warriors (2-1) in in 46th minute. Linnea Reich converted a penalty kick in the 63rd minute to give ECSU a 2-0 lead and Stephanie Sanchez added the final goal of the evening. Alissa Beedle and Nikki Basilicato picked up assists for the Warriors.

Sydney Goodwin  (Lawrence, Mass.) finished with two shots for the Blazers while Kelsey Shea (Belchertown, Mass.) and Shannon Denault (Chicopee, Mass.) each had one shot on goal.

The Blazers return to action at the 13th Annual Courtyard by Marriott Classic hosted by Husson. Elms will face host Husson on Sept. 8 and UMass.-Boston on Sept. 9.
